Halloween October 2014
Our Halloween party starts before boarding the Royal Hungarian Express when you meet your fellow travellers inside the magnificent Royal Waiting Room at the Budapest Nyugati Station, built for Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph and his beautiful wife Sissy.
This was also the scene of a number of trysts between the Emperor and his mistress, Katharina Schratt, a famous Austrian actress (well what did you expect? Central European leaders of the time were not famous for their fidelity!)
It was said at the time that Franz Joseph’s wife Empress Elisabeth actively promoted the relationship and she became known as the ‘uncrowned Empress of Austria’.
You will then be welcomed aboard the Royal Hungarian Train and on departure from Budapest, seated for a three course dinner, an exquisite tour de force round Hungarian cuisine and fine wines.
As dinner concludes, we arrive in beautiful, dark, wild countryside, a fitting backdrop for a night of gothic burlesque, fantasy and decadence, starring Kitten von Mew.
Currently planned to pull the train, are two heritage locomotives, a classic MAV class 424 4-8-0 steam engine and an MAV bright red and cream classic diesel electric.
This will be a truly memorable event. We recommend early booking as places are strictly limited on the Royal Hungarian Express. Contact us as soon as possible for more details.
